The Sentier des Carrières
A walk around the Rocher de Cheffois, with its former talc quarries flooded by springs.
Easy, shady walk in the forest. Swimming is prohibited as the water is very cold and deep.

1.5km loop from the Chapelle car park (point 8)
8km round trip from Moulin des Etrebières
1- Leave the Moulin des Etrebières by the road and turn left at the crossroads.
2- After 100m, turn right into the Ripaud nurseries. Follow the path to the main road.
3- Cross the dual carriageway and take the road opposite down to the village. Cross the road and visit the historic garden of the Ripaud Nurseries.
4- Drive through the village of Cheffois and visit the beautiful fortified church.
5- After the shops, turn left into the chemin de la chapelle.
6- At the top, you'll come to the Notre-Dame-des-Mineurs chapel.
7- Take the signposted path up into the undergrowth.
8- Continue straight ahead along the path, following the blue markings. Ignore the yellow and red markings to the left. Enjoy the beautiful views over the Etang des Carrières.
9- Keep following the path through the forest, following the blue markings.
10- At the crossroads, turn right (blue markings).
11- At the next crossroads, turn right (against the signs!).
12- On the road, take a diversion to the right to admire the view over the pond.
13- Walk along the grassy area to the chapel and then back down to the village.
14- Opposite the town hall, head down towards the Vallée Verte and turn left.
15- Admire the old wash-house. At the end, turn right before the gate.
16- A little further on, take the stairs up to the road.
17- Turn left at the roundabout. You will see the "Grotte de Lourdes" on the right.
18- Walk for 1 km and turn right before the houses.
19- After another 1km, go straight ahead at the crossroads.
20- Take the next right (white path)
21- Then take the white path to the right. You are now back at the Moulin des Etrebières.
